The Program

The Basic Education Quality and Access in Lao PDR (BEQUAL) program is led by the Government of Lao PDR with support from the Australian Government to advance the education priorities of the Ministry of Education and Sports as described in the Education and Sports Sector Development Plan (ESSDP). BEQUAL Phase 2 continues the substantial progress and builds upon the achievements of the first phase (2015-2022). It provides support to the development of an enabling and inclusive teaching and learning environment for teachers and learners with a focus on those who may be disadvantaged because of gender, disability, ethnicity or language.

The Position

The Communications Coordinator will assist in the coordination of the development and implementation of media, communications, teaching and learning resources production and promotional activities in support of BEQUAL goals and objectives and reports directly to the Communications and Video Production Manager. The focus of this position is providing coordination support across all communication activities and especially for the production of the teaching and learning videos which are produced in partnership with Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) departments. It also includes support for producing printed communication materials, media releases and public diplomacy events. The Communications Coordinator maintains close working relationships with Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Vientiane, MoES officers, BEQUAL partners and media stakeholders.

The Person

The successful candidate has demonstrated practical experience working in coordination, communications and media in an international organisation or development program. The successful candidate should have a computer and design skills with Indesign, Publisher, website applications, in addition to data input and collection with a high degree of accuracy. The successful candidate has an experience translating and writing communication documents in standard Lao Language and working with government agencies with an understanding of relevant protocols. The successful candidate should have a strong organising skill including the ability to effectively manage themselves and others in a range of competing tasks in a timely manner.
